Privacy Policy

Line Dance Tracker is a small, free app for keeping track of the line dances you know, want to learn, and want to skip. This page explains what we store about you, why, who else handles it, and how to get it back or delete it. The short version: we keep only what the app needs to work, we don't sell or share it for advertising, and you can export or delete everything from your Profile page.

What we collect

Account details: your email address and a password. The password is stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider; we never see it.
Profile: the display name you choose (optional) and your light/dark theme preference.
Your lists: which dances you've marked Known, Want to learn, or Not for me, which ones you've starred as favorites, and when you made each change.
Dance suggestions: anything you send through the “suggest a missing dance” form.
Recommendations we compute: a ranked list of dances we think you'll like, worked out from your lists. It's derived from the data above and nothing else.

We don't collect your location, contacts, payment details, or anything from other apps.

How we use it

To sign you in and keep your account secure.
To show your lists, practice queue, dashboard and recommendations.
To review suggested dances for the catalog. Suggestions are tied to your account so we can limit spam.
To improve the recommendations, using lists from all users in aggregate.

We don't use your data for advertising, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.

Cookies and tracking

We set only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. Your theme choice is also remembered in your browser's local storage. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics or tracking scripts.

Services that handle your data

We use a few providers to run the app. Each one handles your data only to provide its service to us:

Supabase hosts the database and handles sign-in and account emails (confirmation and password reset).
Vercel hosts the website. Like any web host, it processes your IP address and request logs to serve pages and protect against abuse.
YouTube (Google) serves the dance video thumbnails and plays videos when you tap one. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed, but loading YouTube content still lets Google see your IP address under Google's Privacy Policy.
Sentry (if enabled) receives error reports when something breaks, so we can fix it. Reports are configured not to include personal information such as your name, email or IP address.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your profile, lists, favorites, suggestions and recommendations are deleted immediately. Copies may remain in our providers' routine logs or backups for a short time before they expire.

Your choices and rights

See and download your data: on your Profile page, choose Download my data to get everything we store about you as a file.
Correct it: change your display name on your Profile page, and your lists anywhere in the app.
Delete it: on your Profile page, choose Delete account. This is permanent.

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have further rights, such as to object to processing or to complain to a data-protection authority. For any request you can't do yourself in the app, email us at the address below and we'll respond within 30 days.

Children

Line Dance Tracker isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has made an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, and the database enforces that each account can read and change only its own lists. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe and will tell affected users promptly if a breach affects their data.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you've already given us, we'll let you know in the app first.
